Our Inspiration
Kimberly and Steven share a passion for design and draw inspiration from a variety of sources. From the fashion vantage point, they are inspired by the new generation of Saville Row Tailors who have adapted the classic style and workmanship to the modern world; Jean Paul Gaultier's sense of fun and Cristobal Balenciaga’s sculptural masterpieces. From the wider design world, the husband-wife team, are drawn to the beautiful curves of the Aston Martin Vantage; Art Deco furniture and accessories; and of course architecture - from the glass and steel space age desert buildings of Palm Springs to the vibrant coloured planes of Mexican architect Luis Barragan.
Which ever of these influences come in to play when creating their collection, the designers take a firm “form follows function” approach - thinking about how an object is going to be used and incorporates that into development of the product. As a result the Notting Hill Design collection, is not only beautiful, but also effortlessly practical.
The name Notting Hill Design is drawn from the neighbourhood Kimberly and Steven live in - a truly special part of London - filled with colour and an eclectic mix of artists, aristocrats, designers, and market traders giving it a unique vibrancy. The Design part of the name reflects the importance of design integrity in all of their creations. This neighbourhood provides a dynamic backdrop from which to create the truly unique products that are instantly recognisable as coming from Notting Hill Design.
